About me
Welcome! My name is Emily Grannemann, and I’m a dedicated, certified eating disorder recovery coach, certified peer specialist, and crisis responsive peer with a deep, personal understanding of the complex journey toward healing.
For over two decades, I battled a longstanding eating disorder along with a chronic substance use disorder and severe depression (along with crippling anxiety, OCD, and body dysmorphic disorder) - struggles that at times felt all-consuming and hopeless. My eating disorder, alcohol use, depression, and anxiety were deeply intertwined, each fueling the other in a cycle that was difficult to break. I know what it’s like to feel trapped, stuck, and just wanting the pain to end. I know the loneliness, the shame, and the hopelessness that recovery might never be possible.
But I also know that recovery is possible, because I’ve lived it. Coaching played a transformative role in helping me find my way out when traditional approaches had fallen short. It gave me the practical skills, in-the-moment support, and hope I needed to begin rebuilding my life.
Today, I use my lived experience to support others walking their own recovery paths. My mission is to offer realistic, nuanced, and non-judgmental guidance to individuals struggling with eating disorders, disordered eating, substance use, dual diagnoses, or all the above. I believe in a holistic, individualized, client-centered approach that compassionately honors each person’s unique story and meets the person where they are at, while addressing both the emotional and behavioral aspects of recovery.
My coaching focuses on helping clients find motivation, relieve maladaptive behaviors, build sustainable recovery skills, and create a life that feels worth staying for. I offer support that is collaborative - not prescriptive - giving clients autonomy and space to lead their own healing process while staying grounded in trust, respect, and a shared commitment to growth.
While I’m not a licensed therapist or medical provider, my role as a coach is to offer encouragement, accountability, and practical tools, rooted in real-life experience and genuine understanding. I aim to create a safe, empowering space where you can feel seen, supported, and capable of healing.
Full recovery is possible for everyone. No matter how long you’ve struggled or how stuck you feel. You don’t have to do it alone. Whether you’re just starting out or seeking support along the way, I’m here to walk beside you with empathy, integrity, and hope.
Let’s work together to reclaim your life and move toward the freedom and peace you deserve.
